Religion

According to a census dating back to 2000, nearly a fifth of the inhabitants of Maine said that without religion. The believers of the State virtually all Christians, the main religions are Catholicism and Protestantism.

Slavery

Le Bureau d'analyse économique estime que le produit national brut du Maine pour l'année 2003 a été de 41 milliards de dollars, ce qui équivaut à 29 164 $ par habitant, plaçant le Maine à la vingt-neuvième place des États américains.

Le Maine est le premier producteur mondial de bleuets (fruit voisin de la myrtille) et génère à lui seul 25 % de la production nord-américaine. Les autres produits agricoles de l'État sont notamment les volailles, les œufs, les produits laitiers, le bétail, les pommes, le sirop et le sucre d'érable. Le Comté d'Aroostook est connu pour ses pommes de terre. La pêche commerciale, qui fut le secteur majeur de l'économie du Maine, garde une certaine importance, notamment la pêche aux homards. Les sources et les aquifères de l'ouest de l'État sont largement utilisées pour la production d'eau en bouteilles.
